I read the title was really was not moved which is sad. I think I watched Scareface to many times or something. When you think about it drug smugglers are trying to get money and so are agents. We do have corrupt people in our society and they work for our goverment. It happens but I hope that the US takes preventive steps to make sure that this ceases.

I'm kind of not surprised by this. If you think about it these drug smugglers and people trying to get immigrants through are pretty desperate. So why not try and persuade border security. They will probably make more money from bribes then they would normally get paid. I think it's all about the training and the pay they get. Either that or you won't be able to stop everyone from taking bribes because that's kind of hard to regulate.

I think that its great that there is an arrest warrant out for the leader of Sudan, however, this has to happen if someone turns him in or he turns himself in and this will not be easy. I just hope something is done so that the genocide can end...

How Ironic is it that when you INCREASE SECURITY.... you INCREASE the chance of getting drugs into the country THROUGH security. It is sad that drug smugglers can offer so much more money than what the U.S. can offer border patrol agents per year... but not every agent can make 100,000+ every year. It poses such a problem because you can't judge someone morals and honesty through a test or application... so it's like what can you do? All I feel like you can do is send the message to the agents loud and clear that if don't enforce the law on the drug smugglers the federal government is going to enforce it on YOU.

I like that article. I feel that this is a very important topic and that the government and other countries should try and fix this problem with gas prices.

I agree that if Powell was there and not stuck on an airplane maybe things would have ended up differently. I also was confused about Fukyuama signiture on the document, his last essay was arguing a completley different angle. I found the documentary to be helpful in fully understanding the actions taken by the President following 9/11.

I have mixed feelings about this article.. I know I am posting late but I am going back to do a 3rd comment for the past few weeks...

I feel like it sounds kind of "dirty" what the U.S. was trying to do but it is still a really good and necessary idea... you always want to know what is going with your neighbors, enemies, or anyone your having any kind of positive or negative relationship with. Just the thought of USING Mexico is where it gets sticky for me...

I honestly didn't know who was leading Cuba now but I am glad to hear that a less extreme Castro has taken that place and the possibility of modernization is in the future.

Gas Prices are a topic in everyday conversation so even though the topic is redundant... it's something people don't get tired of talking about! Something that popped into my mind when I read this is that if people from Mexico were coming over and taking a resource like gas from US... we would be PISSED! We condemn immigrants from Mexico for coming to the U.S. for a better anything... and now we are doing it too!

Oil is a problem and maybe if Mexico has more reserves we could work something out with them... I don't know it just seems wrong that people are doing that and I couldn't see that flying if the situation was reversed.

I feel that one of the largest problems and health hazards in our society today is drugs and addiction. The number of addicted criminal offenders and American citizens is rising, so I feel tightening laws are necessary. Although marijuana and cocaine may not be as harmful as herione, crystal meth etc. they are easier to obtain and come specifically from South America. I agree that focusing on the harder drugs is a good start though, the effects of marijuana on the brain are minimal compared to that of crystal meth.
